Let me try to explain the situation first.
My friend gave me his computer to check the RAM and processor to see if they were causing his computer to not work. So he brought it to my house and gave it to me overnight.

I first took out the Video Card so that I could easily get to the RAM and set it aside.
I then took out the RAM from my computer and realized the one was a CL3 that he had given me so I couldnt check because my motherboard supported CL2.

So my next step was to check the processor. I had put in the POSSIBLE bad one and put back the cooler and heatsink.
When I turned on the computer I would get a "no signal" from monitor, or a "going to sleep". I kept tryin to reconnect the video card and tried another monitor etc. but same problem...

So I then put the original processor back in and the same problem occured. Now my friend is upset and I am left with asking for help.

Your motherboard will surely accept cl3 RAM!

First off, when all your mates parts are in his PC what it is that isnt working? Do you get a beep when you turn it on. What shows on the monitor?

Well, what I mean by it wont support CL3 is because the opening on the bottom of the stick of ram (on the gold plate) does not align with the single spot on the motherboard slot. The CL2.5 has one opening near the middle of the stick making it fit. But that's not what I am worried about right now.

My problem is getting something to show on the monitor, hence nothing shows on the monitor. There is no beep either.

    Thanks for helping.

If the notches arent the same in the sticks of ram its not the CAS thats the difference its the design of the ram itself.

    normal SD-RAM (pc133)

There are loads others too but no doubt the sticks you have are out of those three.

Is there an LED on the motherbaord which lights up when the power is plugged in? When you press the on button on the pc do the fans spin?

Then use the Bare Bones Method...

Pull out the MOBO from the Case and leave it with jst..
    Processor
    1xRAM stick
    1xHDD
Video Card(if u dnt have a onboard then..)
Use Flat face screw driver to short pins and see if works....GoodLuck!

Yes the motherboard lights up green. And yes, all fans run except for the video card one, but that might've always been like that.

Does your Mobo supports onboard Video? If yes then Remove the Video Card and put it on onboard.. See if it works...

To be honest with you I do not know what onboard is. I have it in the AGP slot right now because that is where it was and where it has always been.
