A computer recently came to me that seems to have lost it's video. I can not see the bios or even post. It's clear that we have issues with the intergrated video card. I will be trying to reset the bios but if that does not solve my problem than I'm hoping some of you can help me. I have already tried placing a pci video card into the pc, there is no agp or pci-e slot. No video, therefore I probably have to get into the bios to change the video from agp onboard to pci. Problem is, I can't even view the bios. Is there a trick to it or does anyone happen to know how to blindly navigate the bios (machine is 15 years of age from compaq) so I can switch it. All input is helpful, thanks.
my parents had a similar problem with their comparably-aged Dell. onboard video crapped out, and installing any other means -AGP, PCI- didn't seem to solve the problem. out of happenstance, the onboard decided to work one day, and i managed to attempt a few things, but never solved the problem. i told them their problem was that the computer is old and finally died. *shrug* i told them to get a mac. if you find a solution, i'd like to hear about it. maybe i can squeeze a few more years out of the thing. cheers
Well resetting bios didn't work, I'm not even sure it is posting after all. They keyboard lights don't light up. Is there anything I can do or is it safe to say the pc is dead, time to salvage it>?
