Amarok 1.4.5 was officially released yesterday. Download and try it, it's fantastic.

This new version will be the last 1.4 release until Amarok 2.0. Amarok 2.0 will not be a quick release, there are a LOT of things that need doing. The biggest change will be the switch from Qt 3 to Qt 4. This will vastly improve the application as well as improve performance. Also, if KDE library dependencies are worked around we could see a port to Windows.

Currenty using Prevu to backport to Dapper as I type this. If anyone wants the packages, just let me know

Y'know I really don't want Windows users to have Amarok! Amarok is our cake; for people who saw the light and switched to Linux. Although I suppose I could look at it a different way and say "well you liked Amarok, just wait until you see what else Linux has to offer... "

Thats true, Amarok is the killer app; and with good reason.

I'm not sure how much of the functionality will still be there, but I guess with Qt4 it will almost be completely cross compatible. We should just market it as "The best Linux music player now ported to Windows". Emphasize that it runs best on Linux.

At the moment, 2.0 development is happening on svn trunk, so if anyone wants the bleeding edge (which may not always work since its being ported) then you can use that.
