Hi, this is my first time here but I don't think it will be my last. :D

I have a quick question that I'm hoping someone can answer for me, as I am somewhat of an idiot. Okay, my question is whether my motherboard is compatible with a particular video card. My board is an Intel D865GLC AAC27501-404, here is some more info on it. Currently I am running an old BFG GeForce4 MX 4000 with it and want to upgrade to a BFG GeForce 7600 GS. Can I use a BFG GeForce 7600 GS with my motherboard? The only two things I am unsure about is physically fitting the card into the AGP slot and the fact that the BFG GeForce 7600 GS has GDDR2 as its memory type. Are these things I should be concerned about with my motherboard or should I be able to run this card with no problem? Any information or clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here are some links to more info on my current card and my choice for upgrade:

Hi, as far as i can see you should have no problems at all :), it AGP its deffenitly going to fit. The type of memory wont cause any issues, just GDDR2 and 3 are the latest memory, basically GDDR 2 can have allot higher clock speeds than DDR, but latencys seem to be slower this is how itslike for ram, dont know if its like this for GDDR ram.

I think the 512mb of memory on this card might be abit of a gimmic, try to look for a 7600GT 256MB, that should be better than the 7600GS your looking at :)

Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated. I have one question though, you mentioned...
Why would I get a 256MB card instead of a 512MB? Is there really that much of an issue with the 7600GS?

No, its still a good card, but more memory = higher cost, and i personly dont think that 512mb of memory is necessery for a card like that, you proberbly could get a 256mb 7600GT for the same price, and the GT is better.

Yea right now memory is becoming an important factor, but i think that games that really require 512mb of Graphics memory at certain settings still doesent mean that you would need a 512mb 7600GS because it proberbly wouldent even run it at those settings that require 512mb memory.
