Hello everyone, I recently bought an Acer T180 system with the following specs:- Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 160GB SATA HDD 1GB DDR2 RAM Onboard graphics nvidia 6100 250W PSU I wanted to get a bit more out of the system so decided to install a 7600 GT 256 card and an extra 1GB of RAM. The card works fine, but when I install the RAM (2x512mb sticks for dual channel) the computer keeps restarting before completing booting up. I figured this was down to the PSU not coping with the upgrade, so I've added a 400W PSU. However, the problem remains. I have tried the sticks individually and they work fine.. The memory slots are paired, 2 orange slots and 2 purple. I am finding that if more than 1GB is installed, the computer restarts before boot up, however the system works fine with 1GB installed in any combination of slots..?! Why will my PC not cope with 2GB of RAM? I think I've tried everything short of flashing the bios, but does anyone here have any advice on what to do? If I do need to flash the bios, what version to use and where can I download it? T hanks in advance.
Thanks for the reply, although the problem is now sorted! I noticed that after adding the new sticks the memory was only working at single channel. I then tested the sticks individually with memtest and one of them turned out to be faulty. I got it replaced today and all is well...
