I heard from a friend that pentiums are getting better for gaming purposes. I myself am an AMD guy because I like the efficiency but I want to know if the upcoming pentiums are gonna be as good as AMD for gaming.

I am not completely sure but I think C2D's are cheaper than new AM2's  But they have new technology in it... Which uses less power which saves money in the long run..

I didnt think they made Pentiums anymore.

Im sure I rememeber reading something somewhere on how AMD are going to catch up, if not outdo the Intels offerings. I cant remember why the article concluded this or where I read it.

I just go with what I can afford! Spec comes second unfortunately!

The Pentium family is being phased out as Intel is switching over to Core 2 processors. As far as the Pentium family goes, AMD beats the snot out of it. As far as Core 2 goes, it beats out AMD (and therefore the Pentium). If you're buying now, or looking to buy, Intel has better performance per dollar than AMD...and I type this with an Athlon64-based system. Socket AM2 is a jump to DDR2 support, nothing more. Rest assured, they'll have something to best Intel with eventually, but right now, if you want the best processor, a Core 2 Duo is the champ.
