Yeah, I'm going to be scarce for about a week. I'm getting the keys to my apartment today, and am going to drop off a load before hitting the sack. Anyway, as I won't have internet access immediately (unless someone has a wireless network unsecured), I'll probably be off for a few days. Just as well, as I need to get some stuff set up anyway. Here's hoping it goes better than my last endeavor.

Yeah, I'm hoping so too. Last time didn't go so well, and I didn't plan things out that well. I got my key, so I can start dumping off stuff...well, I already have, but there's still plenty more. They still need to put a fridge in it, but that's about it. I said I'd be sleeping there starting Thursday, so I'll have a fridge by then. And speaking of sleep, I should get to that since I still have one more night of work before I take off and blow some of my paid-days off.

lol, someone always had an unencrypted wireless network around, especially in apartments, lol, i live in the sticks and theres one out here.
just get a "potato chips can" (I think thats what there called in the US anyway, something like a large pringles can/tube) a bunch of pencils and some duck tape and you can make a directional antenna on a mount/tripod
no im not kidding! you can use all sorts of materials (dog food cans etc) just don't expect amazing overly amazing results (you are building it out of junk remember). the only problem most people are left with is getting there antenna inside the can (mainly for laptops)
Well, I know that's what my one brother does for Internet. One of my new neighbors is a cop and has a couple of chiuaua's (sp?). I kinda doubt they're part of the K9 unit. I got a lot of my stuff moved over, so my old room (where I'm at right now) is rather barren. I got a buddy coming over around noon today to help me move my bulky stuff that can't fit in the car.
Except for a few odds and ends, I'm pretty much moved in. The landlord is getting the refridgerator put in and the bed is being delivered tomorrow. Thus said, this is the last night at my parents house. I've planned things, and it's pretty much gone according to it, but if I think too much about the entire reality, it gets a little on me. I don't know if there's someone with wide open Wi-Fi in the neighborhood, so I may start being scarce as of tomorrow. However, I did get to set up my TV stand and DVD player using HDMI...so far pretty dang sweet. I do want to talk to my landlord about possibly changing a few electrical sockets from 2-pin to 3-pin. I do have a few 3-pin, but they're all in the kitchen, and I just don't fancy running an exentsion cord down the hallway. Well, I know for sure I'll be stocking the kitchen with grub after I sort out the pots and pans and dishes. Typical geek: tech first, to hell with the rest of the stuff.
Totally! Me and my current flatmates were looking at houses to stay in next year at uni, key things: 1. Internet Access? 2. Fast Internet Access? 3. Other usual stuff here
My DSL service is set to turn on on the 16th of this month (2 weeks). I've been popping over to my folks place, but it'll be nicer when I have it at my apartment.
Well, Verizon didn't hop to it and get my DSL data line hooked up until this Wednesday, so my service date has been pushed back to April 2. Since they've given me some more useful information this time, I think it should be right on. I do miss the internet. It'll be a "downgrade" from 5 Meg FiOS that my parents run to 3 Meg DSL. Such a tragic life.
