I don't plan on getting a DX10 card, and I can always upgrade... I don't plan to overclock much, maybe to 2.4-2.7, and I should be able to do that with this setup.
Everything looks ok, but why a 17" CRT!?!?!?! your best off buying an LCD at least, sure they will cost more but 17" CRT, its abit bulcky. For the PSU something like this would be good: Newegg.com - Antec NeoHE 500 500W Power Supply - Retail I would suggest looking here for info on PSU's http://www.hardwareforums.com/power-supply-sticky-5218/ Dont buy a PSU based on its wattage, you should base your decicion on Make, the amp on the lines and quality. What games are you planning on playing? depending on what games I think the graphics card is going to struggle. Whats WVSTA? Windows Vista?
Yes, it's windows vista. The only thing I play atm is CS 1.6 competitively, and for that, I choose CRT. I guess I'd be fine with an LCD, but 2ms LCDS are pretty expensive. I plan on working the summer in order to pay for this, so my budget is unknown(I may take some from the bank). I'm planning on Vista because in the future, I'm sure I'd get something like the 8600 - but by the time summer's over, I can probably get the same comp with 8600(or 8800GTS) for same or lower price. Thanks for the help so far =)
8ms and loweris ok for gaming, my 19" Widescreen LCD from Acer is 5ms and is perfectly good for gaming. Gaming aint very good on Vista atm, I found some games to work perfectly whilst others will either run badly or not at all. http://www.hardwareforums.com/my-personal-experience-vista-17091/ < check this thread out for experiences of Vista.
Yeah, I know Vista isn't too good ATM, but like I said, it'll be another 6 months before I get the computer, so whatever. I'm sure I'll be able to upgrade the graphics card, but I'd probably do that in the future, but I'm never going to get something like the 8800GTX anywhere in the near time future. Like I said, all I play really is half life 2/source engine games and 1.6(a much older game). I play games mostly competitively, so 8ms reaction time can help lots Anyways, this build is fine, right - if I ordered this, I'd be able to build a fully functional computer(I'm not sure if I'd need any extra cables or anything... it is my first time >.>) Again, thanks.
