Hi, I am experiencing some weird problems with my Roland RPC-1/SI-24 (Studio Package Pro) installation: [1] Distorted Windows sounds, like when clicking on a link (always) [2] Sometimes a stream of random pops will be triggered by such an action... they go on endlessly, or until another such action like clicking on a link stops them (also, starting Logic always seems to stop them). These do not register in the RPC-1 control panel as having actual level! [3] Slowdown when playing back music or video files, regardless of player I previously had a Compaq Intel 3.0 Ghz computer running XP pro. I experienced #1 with that as well. It died and I moved up to a Pentium D 3.0 Ghz with same OS, which should be much faster, so #3 makes no sense at all (not that any of them do). I recently disabled onboard sound in BIOS which did not help the symptoms. I've also tried adjusting latency to see if this would help, but it doesn't seem to affect things. Can anyone provide insight? It's really annoying not to be able to play back an mp3 properly, let alone record with confidence. I would be happy to answer any questions about the situation, of course.
Hey, I was doing some research and found it mentioned that your sound card should be using a real IRQ, i.e. less than 16. Mine is on 18 and so is some USB controller! But, if I go into device manager, the option to change the IRQ is disabled. Can I change it through BIOS? Is there danger in this?
