So my drive looks completely fragmented. And when I run windows degragmenter (yeah I know, I dont have another program yet) it always says its fragmented, here is what the log says: Volume (C Volume size = 35.05 GB Cluster size = 4 KB Used space = 22.86 GB Free space = 12.20 GB Percent free space = 34 % Volume fragmentation Total fragmentation = 10 % File fragmentation = 21 % Free space fragmentation = 0 % File fragmentation Total files = 64,015 Average file size = 706 KB Total fragmented files = 4 Total excess fragments = 5,050 Average fragments per file = 1.07 Pagefile fragmentation Pagefile size = 2.00 GB Total fragments = 2 Folder fragmentation Total folders = 5,681 Fragmented folders = 1 Excess folder fragments = 0 Master File Table (MFT) fragmentation Total MFT size = 82 MB MFT record count = 70,404 Percent MFT in use = 83 % Total MFT fragments = 3 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fragments File Size Files that cannot be defragmented 4,650 1.40 GB \System Volume Information\_restore{3EE836B8-02C5-408B-8FD2-EB15F3701A1E}\RP293\A0067360.exe I'm going to assume its system restore? Does that mean I can just delete all my old system restore points (and of course make a new one for the day) and that should pretty much clear up? Then I can run it again... But yeah, I'm just assuming, it could be something else but I've heard of this happening before. Any thoughts, suggestions? Thanks!
looks like it yeah, i think so me too what have you heard BTW you can do a more complete scandisk & defrag in safe mode cos less files are unmovable
The part that can't be defragmented because it is the folder of system restore. Disable system restore, and then re-enable it. Right-click My computer and click on Properties. Go to the tab System Restore and check Disable System Restore on all drives. Now click on Yes and then on OK. Reboot (would be wise) and then go to the same screen and uncheck it again,
