There have been a few reports of unreliability, but on the whole I think they're ok.

AFAIK they only come with a 90 day warranty, so you might want to buy an extended 1 year one.

They upped the 90 days to 1 year. My launch unit would no longer play any of my 360 games just after the year was up although I'm sure it was caused by NFS:MW and Madden '06, for some reason the old EA games seem to cause major problems.

My new unit though has been performing fine, although at this point I'd probably hold off on buying one and get the Elite unit.

As long as you buy the latest gen xbox360 you should be ok.(all of them should be @ the store) Make sure to leave plenty of breathing room for the unit when playing for prolonged periods of time. And with the new 1yr warranty being standard now you should be ok. Oh, and another thing, the unit now supports full HD 1080P, VERY NICE! Not even the PS3 has that with its fancy shmancy HDMI connection lol. :chk:
    hope this helps :)

I got a tv that supports 1080p. Some friends of mine got that Xbox360 elite and a PS3. I compared them both on my tv. But the graphical quality of the PS3 was much better than the xbox360 (more anti-aliasing and a sharper image).

I'm not really satisfied with my xbox360. The dvd drive makes way too much noise and the dvd drive gets stuck all the time. Also the power adapter has the length of a baseball bat :p. The reason why I didn't bought a PS3 was because the pice of the games are too high for me.

Were they the same games that you compared? And did you try playing a 1080p game on the 360 vs a 1080i on ps3? Its hard to believe that a 1080i games looks better than a 1080p. Just my 2 cents :p

It surely did, more because the PS3 has higher specs and can therefore render a higher quality. A PS3 renders games at HD resolution. An Xbox360 renders then at 800x600, and a special chip designed by Microsoft scales it up to HD. This has been declared by Microsoft by accident :p. And I compared both consoles with the game Call of Duty 3.

To say ps3 has higher specs is arguable, check this out: Xbox 360 Versus PlayStation 3 Graphics Comparison - Features at GameSpot
It shows differnces from xbox 360 to ps3. Personally I prefer the 360 because the console is affordable and if you compare the ps3 blueray disk which holds a minimum of 25Gig for single layer and 50Gig on duel layer. Yet the 360 games are a max of 8Gigs. Since the game volume for 360 is much less, the ps3 doesnt outperform the 360. by the way, - ti pa ruski gavarish?
