Hi, my celeron d only scores 350 points on 3dmark03 when i have 1024mb RAM installed however when i have 512mb RAM installed the cpu scores 470 points. this has really confused me, does anyone know why my cpu is going slower when i have more RAM installed?
My idea: If your amount of RAM is increased, then the size of the hibernation file and pagefile (if managed automatically) also increase. Defrag the hard disk(s) with a good defrag program (like O&O Defrag) and then check if your performance has increased.
well i just did a full defrag and did the benchmark again however my cpu score is still only around 350 points. any more ideas?
Are you sure the speeds of the RAM match, as well as their timings? It could be you've put in a slower stick of RAM which is causing your FSB to slow down to match it.
im not sure about the timings as i dont really know how to check it but i do know that the 2 sticks of ram are both pc3200 so they should both be running at 400mhz. also i have noticed on boot up it says something like single channel memory 200*2mhz, does this mean the ram is only at 200mhz?.
how about using PCWizard to id your RAM[ot]not sure but you may have to have only 1 stick of RAM inserted to properly id you RAM[/ot]
hi, well i took your advice and looked at pc wizard, i found that my ram is operating at 140 which is the same speed at my processor, so i reset the bios settings so my processor is at auto and now pc wizard says its at 133 which is the default frequency of my cpu. is there anyway to set it up so that my ram is running at 200 while my processor is running at around 140.
