My computer is 3 years old, and it has gotten slow and the hard drive is fullish. I want to by a new hard drive, start it fresh and keep the old one as slave so I can copy files over when I want.

I don't want to have to choose which hard drive to boot to every time, I just one the old one to be a storage device. How can I do this without Microsoft thinking that the new hard drive has a ripoff copy of XP?

    Hi Micomator

I did this very thing the other day and did not encounter any problem with re-activation etc.
I think it comes down to large system hardware changes ie Mobo, before MS starts getting snotty.
If you do get a problem just give them a bell and say what you have done.
