hi, office got new pc, 1gb ram but just the single stick, why not dual channel? the mb supports it and it would have been cheaper too. does single-channel work better for office pcs (or no different)?

ps, we didnt ask for either dual or non-dual channel, the shop made the decision to give us the slower p.o.s.

thanks, i hope someone can shed light to this matter

Yea 2 x 5132mb dual channel would proberbly offer better performance than 1gb stick as one stick is like 64bit I think and 2 sticks in dual channel offer 128bit. I think you should contact the store and return them to get the dual channel you ordered.

A company isn't required to make use of all the features on a motherboard. If it wasn't specified, my guess is that they took what was on hand or whatever was cheaper and tossed it in. Plus, it's an office PC. 1GB one way or the other will be plenty, unless it's a graphics workstation, in which case, I'd take it back and have them add a second stick to bump it up to 2GB. In any case, I'm not automatically suspecting that they did it maliciously.
