Hello, I have a computer with an only 60 Gb hard disk, with WinXP on it. I want to make another partition on it, to store data. Now, how can I achieve this without formatting the disk and losing any data already on it? I can't find any setting of this kind in Windows. Thank you
To do this safely i would suggest using a 3rd party application such as Partition Magic. The only time Windows will allow you to make a partition is at the setup. Make sure you DEFRAG first, and make sure you backup all your important data, ive lost a whole semesters work doing this while at uni.
personally i don't like PM (& a few others agree with me, when i used XP, i used Acronis Partition Xpert 2k3 which is now being updated & integrated into Acronis Disk Director[ot]PM has actually destroyed at lot of data for a lot of people[/ot]BTW: you don't Need to defrag but it is advisable Edit: BTW Acronis Disk Director can also resize partitions

the instruction manual that comes with the software (it may be a .pdf file, if it is you'll need a .pdf reader like Adobe Acrobat Reader[/ot]
