Hey everyone, I recently built a new rig to last me for another year or so (M2N-MX, 64bit X2 4600+, 2GB DDR2, etc...). I bought a 7900GT which was factory overclocked from BFG but the card was faulty when I got it and caused scaling artifacts to appear so I returned it. Now however I am thinking of throwing in an extra £60 and getting myself an EVGA 8800GTS 320mb card to give me some dx10 functionality should I upgrade to Vista before I build another rig in a year or so. The problem I have is that I've heard the 8800 cards are really big. Does anyone know if an 8800GTS will fit on an ASUS M2N-MX motherboard inside an Antec 900 case? If I buy it and it doesn't fit I'm a bit scuppered really and £200 for a dx10 card seems like a bargain to be honest.
It'll take up two back brackets and be quite cramped but you shouldn't have a problem. I didn't think it'd fit in my case but it did... just.
don't upgrade to Vista until at least SP1 or SP2 is in general release[ot]by then M$ will probably have got rid of most of the bugs, or even better switch to Linux[/ot]
Yeah, no problems fitting it mate... I have an 8800GTX and the same case as you do (they're brilliant aren't they? )You’ll just have to remove the 3.5" upper tray for the GTX... don't know for the GTS...
Awesome that's just what I wanted to hear . Yeh the case is really good. I was surprised how quiet it is to be honest considering the fans in it. I might notch the case fans up to the medium setting to get it even cooler, although tbh my cpu is running at 35c atm which isn't too shabby . Thanks for the help guys. I suppose if it doesn't fit I can always remove the extra 12cm fan casing from the back of the middle drive chasis on the case, that would probably work well.
