Hi all I want to know from everybody that has had XP and Vista what they think about the pro's con's and anything they have to say about these two operating systems. Secondly: can anyone point me to a fully working crack of vista... No only kidding. But seriously have you guys seen the price!! If there ARE any cracked copes im sure they are spreading like fire in a petrol station. Would you say that its worth the upgrade from Xp to Vista. Or shall i wait for it to become more mainstream. Pls just post any thoughts on the new offering from micosoft. I want to get a feel for the public's response on a forum where people actually know that that computers need electricity to make them wotk... you know matt
At this point, Vista is very buggy. You might need to wait for Service Pack 1 to be released. If you want to play new games that use DirectX 10, then you are forced to use Vista and buy a DX10 compatible graphics card. My personal opinion: That new aero technology just makes me sick! Transparancy should only be used for effects, not constantly on all windows. Also, you need a heavy gaming machine just to run an OS. Vista is a menu program with 2 GB extra features. So I would only recommend upgrading to Vista if you are a hardcore gamer. Otherwise stick to XP, or take a look at linux
My laptop came with XP MCE 2005 and a Free Upgrade to Vista Home Premium. The other day I made the mistake of "upgrading" it to Vista, and within 6 hours I was running the restore program to put XP back on. Personally it was very slow for me, and not worth the upgrade. However, I only have 512mb RAM so it would be slow.
I have a triple boot system, running win 98 se/ XP pro / Vista lite. If you want to run or try vista,I would try vista cd version lite. It runs real good and fast...
If you are thinking of making the jump to Vista, a plain upgrade is of no use. Do a format c and a fresh install. You'll be more happy that you did.
vista is gud actually.. but i can clearly tel u tat there r some knwn bugs...if ur PC suppors 64 bit technology go for vista 64 bit edition..its pretty gud..and to b frank vista is not as stable as windows XP...i wanted to install vista as soon as it was released.. and i installed it also with a multi boot along with xp... even though my system supports vista well and faster i always use XP to browse, play games, etc... guess it wil take some time to get used with vista.. Initially stuffs like UAC(User Account Control) in vista wil make u frustrated unless u disable it... So my suggestion wud b make a multiboot with both Vista and XP,, use XP as usual and get used with vista.. spend some time..analyse it... get going with vista if u really need.. and regarding crack for vista(hehe).. u got shit loads of cracks on net
my opinion is they shouldve taken another six months to smooth it out even more than it already has been. It is great as far as features but could be smoother running(whats the deal with the aero going off so jarringly when the ui switches to vista basic for older programs) It boots a little slow but i think all the slowness will be fixed with the first service pack adn subsequent hardware releases. As for all the driver immaturity, virus progams, and other misc. problems with the os, what the heck is wrong with all those companies making the products?!? the OS has been in development for five years and stable builds have been available for over a year. C'mon Apple dont balme microsoft for the itunes fiasco. That was a pr stunt.(luckily itunes works fine now.) This is Clearly not microsofts problem(although they have been writing some drivers themselves for hardware that didnt work.) Everyone wants to blame microsoft for the Problems in the OS when it is really the all the software companies at fault for the problems(and sometimes microsoft too of course). I give Vista a 8/10. I cant wait for the dx10 games. I hate the inclusion of drm(listen to the customer not the media companies microsoft). I dont like the slowness although vista does speed up with use. Vista is greaat but could be better. P.S. I am a microsoft fanboy. I am a Mac fanboy. I am a linux fanboy.I like all the stuff out there so i am not being biased in my review toward microsoft. --------------------------------End Rant----------------------------------
oh yeah btw i upgraded and switched back to xp(runs great and still faster than vista) after bad frame rates in games. have vista running in dual boot to see how gaming performance has in creased with newer drivers. Stalker runs ok... still going to test more... ok one more thing i love the 3d desktop because of no performance hit when running 3d games on desktop like xp. you know RHochstenbach you can turn the transparencies off. or use vista basic theme
