i have no monitor and using my hdtv for my pc through a hdmi port - of which there is only one. i cancelled a ps3 as i thought i could display my pc through an rgb port on my tv. (the normal cable used with monitors) but rigged it up and tuned into rgb on the tv and no display. why is this? how else (except hdmi) can i display my pc on my tv. (im not getting a ps3 unless i have the hdmi port free) thanks
would it not be btter to get a HDMI switch? e.g eBay.co.uk: 5 x 1 HDMI Port Switch Box NEW Splitter Cable HDTV 5x1 (item 180113890415 end time 12-May-07 20:15:00 BST)
what do you mean a normal cable, VGA or DVI? what kind of port/s does the TV have other than HDMI? what TV do you have?
i have a LG 42LC2D, there are loads of different ports on it, but only one HDMI. i was trying to display my pc through the RGB cable that u get with pc monitors... i changed from HDMI to RGB while the pc was still running. and there was no signal. would it make any differnce if i shutdown, put the RGB cable into grfx card, and back of tv. then booted up and tune into RGB on the tv?
you could try that and see what happens, also from the computer are you using VGA/DVI or HDMI out? what resultion are you using via HDMI? try lowering the resolution a bit and then trying the VGA input (RGB).
i cant remember the rez. it is whatever the native rez for the tv is, it automatically set to that, other rez's look bad. im using HDMI/DVI (thats what u tune into on tv) the big end goes into graphics card and smaller into tv. someone else said on another forum why cant u use the VGA... maybe im getting mixed up with VGA and RGB? i thought i could use my old monitor cable to view my pc and keep the HDMI free.
