How would one reassign or reset USB ports. I have a bluetooth dongle in one of my USB ports. I would like to move my dongle and use another device in the port that was used for the dongle. I've had problems doing this and would like to know if there is a way of resetting the USB port identities.

What problems did you have exactly? (error message, device not recognised etc.)

"device not recognized". I've also experienced problems with printers and scanners. When you move them to another USB port they don't work. I think it is also 'device not recognized. When you plug them back into there original port they start working again.

    Try the following:

Disconnect all USB devices (except mice and keyboards). Go to device manager and remove all USB ports and controllers (select them and press Delete). Now rightclick anywhere in the list and click on Scan for Hardware Changes. Now all USB ports will be reinstalled. Now look if the ports are working again.
