Hey everyone. I purchased a HP Pavilion dv8000 about a year ago. Long story short - I sent it in to HP to replace the burnt out screen. I received it back with a fixed screen but Windows will not boot. HP customer care denied that they touched the HDD and will not support this. I immediately put my XP cd in and tried to reformat. Once I'm given the option to install XP or repair i hit ENTER on my keyboard to install. It immediately shoots me back to an error that says "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer". I then opened up the case and made sure the HDD was seated properly in the bay. It was. Rebooted - same thing. I seated it in the 2nd bay - same thing. Blue screen of death. Now, at this point I'm assuming the HDD is crashed or the bays arent reading the HDD. I then hooked it up to my recovery cables to a 2nd (Test) PC and I WAS ABLE to read the two partitions on the harddrive without error. So.. my question(s) is (are): 1 - Because I was able to read the HDD on my 2nd (Test) PC shouldn't the Laptop be able to read it as well? 2 - Is the issue is with the drive bays - is there anyway to get this PC up and running without using those drive bays? IE - could i boot with an external HDD with windows on it? 3 - If I have to replace the drive bays - where would I get them? Thanks everyone, much appreciated!!
