I have a computer which I know for a fact has USB2.0 capable ports on it. The motherboard box, website, manual, etc. all confirm it. That's not my problem. The problem is that I have installed Windows Service Pack 2 from CD (no Windows Updates) and I don't think I got the proper drivers. However, when I try installing them from my drivers CD for my motherboard, it tells me that if I am using Service Pack 2, this shouldn't be a problem. Before anyone replies that I should buy a PCI card for this, forget it. Not what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance.
have a look in your BIOS, most motherboards allow you to set the usb version (you most likely will have to set it to v1.1+v2.0 out of a menu)
I have the same problem sort of. All the latest Windows Updates are applied w/XP sp 2, USB 2.0 PCI card and on-board ports present the message "Hi speed device plugged into non-hi speed port"... Checked BIOS and there don't seem to be any relevant options.
