I don't know what's going on. I bought a new 9600XT card nearly six months ago, and then was getting a score of 11000+ ... now six months down the road, I've changed nothing else about my setup/BIOS/hardware, yet I'm getting a score of 9000. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks!
What resolution are you running in the benchmark? Did you install your motherboard chipset drivers? What drivers are you using for the 9600XT?
It's set at 1024x768, like it was when I last benchmarked it. after I got the low score, I installed the new Catalyst drivers but it's only made a 100 point improvement. I'm going to see if there are any new drivers for my nForce 2 chipset though, because they haven't been updated in a while. At the moment, I've only got 256mb PC2700 system memory but I've just bought a new 256mb PC3200 memory stick to use with it. Will having 512mb make a difference? Thanks! And I'm running Win2K by the way!
im not entirely sure you can run two different speeds of ram in once motherboard, i could be wrong but it doesnt work with mine.
He will have to run both sticks at the same speed. As far your 3dmark score, do you have AA, AF or vsync turned on ? If so turn all of those off. also, when you instaleld the new graphics drivers, how did you do it ?
Well, I fitted the RAM and after a few snags, (I dislodged the video card without knowing and was scratching my head for a while!) it works fine, even though they are different speeds. I played Farcry and some other games and the extra memory makes a massive difference. Anyway, yes I do have AA enabled but I did last time I benchmarked it, yet it was higher, which is what I don't understand. Might disable it anyway though.
