Hey all, need some help. When the PC gets to the loading screen, it reboots. After this, it starts fine. I get the usual message saying windows shutdown unexpectedly, then the solution centre says it’s due to hardware but is unable to tell me which part. I can restart the PC loads of times without the problem occurring again. But as soon as I switch it off and leave it for a while, turn it back on, it reoccurs. I have run diagnostics on CPU, RAM, HDDs, etc, and everything is fine, the PSU is brand new. I have tried more or less everything. I ran Vista Memory diagnostic first 1 stick at a time then both at the same time with no errors. I am really lost on what to do. I know it's to do with hardware but which bit? Here is the error report:

Are you sure the heatsink is correctly seated and that the processor is covered by a thin film of thermal paste - only I had the same problem and insuffient paste caused it.

As per David said...it could be the overheating problem...

For PC Rebooting i can think of some reasons...
    1. RAM :- you said that you have checked it already but i would suggest you to check it with www.memtest.org as well.
    2. PSU :- you said its brand new, wich brand and how big is it? Also tell the specs of ur PC coz v really would like to know that before making ne decision on the PSU>
    3. Computer Software Issue :- As it could be the virus issue, wich AV u ve got?

There could be many more reasons but once you go through these, new ones will be told... Gudluck

Thanks for getting back to me guys, here is my setup:

    Thermaltake Tsunami
    Thermaltake Toughpower W0132 1000w
    Intel C2D E6600 @ 3.4GHz
    Zalman CNPS9700-LED
    ASUS P5W DH
2GB OCZ TI Alpha Series PC2-8000
    Sapphire Ati HD2900XT
    3 x Western Digital 250GB HDs

I don't think thats its anything to do with overheating though, Idle temp is 24c, and Load is around 38c which is well within its limits, all HDDs are sitting around 28c, have run a viris scan (avast, norton & AVG) and found nothing, + did test with memtest.org and all ok.

    Lets try with Barebone method...

its lil pain in the ass but be wif me coz it might help finding the issue..
Pull out the Mobo out of the Case..and leave it with only
    Processor
    1XRam
    1xHDD
1xVideo card(only if onboard is not supported)

Short power pins with a flat head screw driver to run the PC and see how it goes.. Good luck

What i can say is... I think it's all up to overclocking your CPU or motherboard, don't know.

Don't you really have restarts when running game or another heavy application?

If not, then it seems your hardware is allright. Maybe it's something about Wake-On LAN function? I don't know if theres such a function. And i dont know HOW it could affect starting your PC well. Just a thought of mine.

And if you do some stress tests, (considering to your CPU is overclocked by 1 Ghz) run a stress test for 24 hours. But if your PC works fine after system boots without any problems, its not CPU, VGA or HDD. Unless you experience serious slow-downs/errors while working with your pc.

    Good luck

I think that could be a MB issue. The fact that this problem occurs only when rebooting makes me think in a capacitor failure. Maybe a capacitor is staying loaded and after a while of not receiving power it drains all the load and the problem reappear.

I don't know how good the Vista memory test is, but try Memtest 86. You put it on floppy or CD and boot off said media. Let it run 3-8 hours (unless you get errors immediately).
