I have an HP Pavilion a720n. I opened the immense to clean the immense dust inside it. After plugging everything in and into connecting it with my monitor I pressed the button to turn it on. No image appears on the monitor, at all, though connected to it properly. And this loud beeping noise results from the CPU. What do I do?! It was functioning properly for a very long time prior to this.

I wasn't 100% sure where to post this thread. So, sorry if this is the inappropriate spot and redirect me to the correct one.

Sounds to me like a cord got loose or perhaps there was some damage? Have you tried turning your PSU off and then back on again and then trying to turn the power on?

    Hi,
Check all the connections internally incase you misplaced something when cleaning it.

At worse you damaged some of the hardware via static electric, did u wear a Anti static wristband or even earth yourself before working inside of the computer?? and the beeps you hear don't come from the CPU but from a small speaker mounted on the motherboard. how many beeps are there?

    hope this helps Dave

Um. I'm not the best with hardware. So I'm not sure how everything properly should look like. I didn't wear a anti-static wristband, but was grounded. So hopefully that isn't the problem. I'll try tightening the connections already made to see if something is just loose. The light when you turn the computer on turns on and the fans turn on as well. Just makes this loud beep and continues to make it at like one second intervals until I turn the computer off. I get no image on the monitor though everything is plugged in correctly; I am not sure if that is the only problem.

yea the beeps telling you there's something wrong, if you have the motherboard manuel or can get hold of one of the internet it should tell you in their what the different amount of beeps represent. with there being no image on the screen i think its the GFX card or the ram isnt installed properly? Do you know what ram looks like and where it is located? if not ill send you a picture

I don't know where the manual is =/ I'm not sure what a GFX card is. But I do know where the RAM is and how it looks. It could be that! Because I took it out to dust it, but placed it back. (I thought properly).

GFX card = Graphics card, and my best bet is on the ram than take it back out and re-insert it, make sure the groove in the ram lines up with the slot in the socket and push it it until the to clips either side clip into place it might require a little presure.

    hope this helps Dave

Tried it. Didn't work. Seems to be two slots that RAM can be placed. Should I try the second one? (It wasn't originally in that one).

you no where you plug your moniter in ins the card on the other side, if the place you plug your moniter in is around the area inputs sockets for your keyboard and mouse i wouldn't worry but if its lower down and plugged into one of the white expansion port on your motherboard (PCI slot) then just make sure it connected correctly. I still thinks its and issue wiv ram though so change it to the other socket first
