Hi again. My new rig isn't as smooth as I had hoped and yet again require assistance from the good people of HWF. Please see screenshot below of windows determination of hardware found. What does the 900MHz represent? Is this my bus speed? Also displayed is what CPU-Z detects. If the 900MHz represents my actual bus speed then it is 433MHz slower than it should be. Any help much appreciated. ps, I have downloaded Intel Processor ID Utility, it shows the CPU bus at 1333
thanks but ive looked on google images of the same screen-screenshots and they all show the clockspeed (ie, 3.0ghz) but its only mine that says 900mhz
intel has the speedstep technology on new cpus right? that's the core clock when you are not using the cpu (like the screensaver is working etc.) cpu's original core clock is 3000mhz so don't care what vista says
Yeah surely that is the same thing as AMD's coolnquiet CPU throttleing, do a screenie while you are doing something cpu intensive - applying a heavy filter to a photoshop or compressing a video
with speedstep enabled cpu-z shows idle speed is 2000mhz, load speed is 3000mhz with speedstep disabled cpu-z shows both speeds stuck on 3000, no chance regardless for windows "~900mhz" it shouldnt be throttling anyway as cpu is low temp
I was under the impression that it wasn't just temperature that the throttling looked for as a variable but the cpu load- ie. silly to have the cpu running at 3k when all its running is basic services and programs even if it is a low temperature.
