Since i'm getting the new video card and sometime afterwards the Vista for DX 10 (and Bioshock... Razz) i decided it's a good time to throw out my last relics in the computer.

    My IDE harddrives.

But now with this plethora of cheap HDD's on the market i have no idea what to get. I know the fastest are the two raptors in raid but they a bit expensive and i need lots of space.

I was thinking (raid mode btw) of going with either:

    Seagate ST3320620AS
    Seagate ST3320620NS
    or
    Western Digital WD3200AAKS

The AS and the Digital are same price. They have all the same space and the same Cache, ms time varies between 8.5 and 8.9. It seems the Digital uses less power. I have no idea why NS is 20 euros more since i don't see any difference in the technical specs. Anybody care to shed some light into this?

Which is the more serious company? Seagate or WD? My current drives are a maxtor and a WD from the stone age (so basically very reliable :2cool4u: )

Seagate now owns Maxtor, so you can see those as one company. I've got a Maxtor SATA 160 GB. It is very good and has great performance.

yeah, but basically Seagate just scrapped Maxtor's HDDs & just rebadged their HDDs with the Maxtor name, so, if you buy a Seagate or a Maxtor HDD you will be getting a Seagate

Seagate are generally better drives, although i've heard some good thing about WD

BTW: the best HDD manufacturer is debatable as people have different experiences with HDD manufacturers

    They r both good.
    Most of mine are Seagate
    But I er towards WD

My advice is to check both Support sites
and choose the one with best support

:) If they are both equal, sorry I have been no help
