I was very disappointed with the game personally, the parachute jump, while a fun idea, was rather infuriating and awkward to control. The combat system is tricky to get to grips with and unrealistic, for instance a German runs past me while I'm peppering him with a whole clip from my Thompson, yet he lives to make it to cover and shoot me. Or with the grenades, when you 'throw' a grenade you don't see your character's arm throw the grenade, it just appears in the middle of your screen and flies forward before having a small grey explosion. It wasn't all bad, I did like the idea of levelling up your guns by killing people with them, but it did make it a bit frustrating when you're trying to level up your Garand, you're deep in enemy territory and you've just fired off your last shot. Overall, I didn't like the game, the MoH series isn't what it used to be, I just hope CoD4 doesn't disappoint.
Medal of Honor Airborne is almost just as Pacific Assault was - run and shoot w/ military elements. I like it. I guess it's a question of preference. IMO, CoD in all isn't that much different (at least the basic concept of being a one man army in a big army of NPCs) and I like both of them, so... whatever - can't wait to play either!
The main difference I felt between the two franchises was that MoH was more run-and-gun arcade style action with a WW2 twist, where as CoD was a little more tactical. The main thing with me is I've played a lot of FPS games since a very young age, so I look for things that change the genre, MoH only brought a new perspective on things, but CoD changed the way it was done. I do have to admit though I did like MoH:AA, especially the D-Day landing level, but nothing beyond that, it felt too much like a classic FPS game, shoot the enemies before they can shoot you. I preferred CoD for it's reliance on co-operating with your squad, if you ran ahead into enemy lines, you died fast, if you took point and covered for your advancing squad as well, you'd have an effective way of taking down your enemy. I'm not bashing MoH here, I'm just saying the franchise doesn't appeal to me, I prefer CoD overall. I like the concept of MoH:Airborne, but it's not the game for me.
