usb problem

    hi if im not supposed to post here sorry but i dont know what else to so i posted for help in laptops&pda forum but have not had any replies so dont know if i put it in the right place , ok i have a hp dv1000 and cant get any of the usbs to work i have tried all ports plugging in my camara , printer , phone cable ect but windows does not pick anything up i have uninstalled usbs rebooted and windows finds them but again plugging something in does nothing please help

    It would help to know what OS you are running? XP/win 2000 or ?
    Also is this a new laptop? check devise manager to see if they are listed or you see a yellow Question mark there.. If they are listed, double click on them or click on there properties and see if they are working or not.
    have you tried installing new drivers for them?

    hi sorry im running xp home sp2 ,second hand laptop , i have uninstalled them a number of times but still do not work , in device manager they are listed with no problems as pic shows , thanks tom

    hi again could really do with help in sorting this problem out just to get printer working as kids have work for scool to print before they go back to school thanks tom

    check under the bios to see in the usb are disabled ...

    tried that as well but there is nothing in the bios relateing to usb in fact theres not a lot in the bios at all only to change boot devices

    Man, since this is a second hand laptop ,Then I am afraid you will have to OPEN
    it up to check inside. Somebody could of messed around with it..

    thought of that already but anti tamper stickers are still in place not to worry thanks anyway
