    Hello.

New to these forums but i wanted to ask some hardware experts about a motherboard upgrade I am planning, just to prevent the possible tears after my purchase.

I will be selling the existing motherboard as well as my current processor, buying a motherboard and CPU bundle. so i have no doubt my new processor will be fully compatible.

I currently own an HP Pavilion m7000.uk series. Spec:

    Motherboard - ASUS PTGD-LA

all SATA connectors are being used with both my normal HDD and a Personal Media Drive that handily fits into the front of the case.

    I have a PCIe Geforce 7800GT with 2 gigs of DDR2 PC4200 RAM.

This the motherboard i am upgrading to:

    Asrock 1333-D667 Socket 775

I have looked over the spec of both motherboards, and with my fairly limited knowledge I would say that they are compatible.

My only worries would be that the HP machines are not designed for any full upgrades - or the layout of the inside case will not allow a different motherboard. However, if they both Micro ATX Form factor this shouldn't be the case.

    Thanks for your time!

    Hawk.

    Welcome to HWF :)

Yes these boards are compatible (the RAM, harddrives and graphics card can all be used).

You can perform full upgrades on almost any PC. It is just a normal PC with the HP logo attached.
