I’m using windows XP and the computer seems fine while running programs or surfing the net. But as soon as I start a game and play for a while the game freezes and the computer reboots. I’ve tried changing the video drivers, changing the mobo drivers, changing the windows, changing the directX, but nothing helped. So I thought that the problem is a hardware one. I replaced the mobo, cpu, ram and the HDDs, again nothing changed so I thought that the problem is with the video card, so I changed tree different graphic adapters but still nothing changed. All the voltages and temps are OK, all testing software results are OK. I’ve also tried downclocking the cpu, vga and ram which helped but not entirely it just delayed the rebooting. I do not know what to do else, if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Currently I’m using: cpu athlon64 4200+ X2, mb Asus M2N- Sli Delux, 2X 1GB apacer DDR667, vga Msi NX7600 GS, hdd Maxtor 250GB, psu Codegen 500W. Thanks.

Has this only just started happening or always been this way?

The fact you have tried replacing everything and re-installing makes me wonder if your xp install could have a problem, have you tried a different one?
Are you up to date sp2?

The first configuration I had didn’t have the problem for some time. After a while it started rebooting on one game. After a while rebooted on two games and with time it started rebooting on all games. So I changed everything but still I had the problem. My Windows installation has built in SP2 so I don’t think that’s the problem. I’ll try a different version of XP. Thanks.

How long does it take before it starts doing it ? Does it take hours or ?
To me it sounds like it is over heating , do you have any fans in the case besides the one for the power supply ? It also could be your processor
    over heating..

After you start playing it takes roughly 5 min. and it reboots. About the overheating I’m sure that’s not the problem. While running torture tests on the cpu the max temp was 62C.
