Hello i have just bought a Kingston 512MB DDR PC3200 400MHz CL3 Memory Module for my computer and i am having a bit of problems, what it is, is that once i have installed the memory my computer keeps on coming to an error saying that i haven't installed it properly when i have installed it, so i was just wondering if i need to buy a new fan for my computer because what i am thinking is that it may be overheating and my computer can't handle it. i would be so greatful if you can help me thank you (-_-)
I don't think it's overheating. Does your motherboard support this memory module - see the printed manual or on the manufacturers web site.
yes it does support it because when i inserted it, it did work for some days but now it comes up with the same error. plus i dont thing it is the wrong chip because someone in this forum help me pick out the right one for me.
oh,so it was working before... umm - well, I have to admit, that's somewhat weird. what one can do most probably is try a known good ram module and see what happens - just to rule out components.
the memory is a good known ram module, it is Kingston isn't that good? so if i dont need a new fan, do you think i should rebot the computer?
Hi, You can also try taking out all your RAM and then just test it with one stick at a time in different slots to see if its a bad RAM slot or bad memory stick as well.
i have tried taking my old memory out and inserting the new one but it still doesnt work, and by the way when i took out the memory which didnt work it was really hot nearly burnt me, why did that happen.
