I have a emachines 620 which is now 4 years old. I'm just wondering how long in years do these PCs last? Reply soon please.
Welcome to HWF A PC usually lasts about 3-4 years. Most PCs won't die after 4 years, but that is about the time in years that people buy a new PC.
yeah, i guess i can agree with Rhoch, but thats kinda a weird question. A PC's general useful lifespan is something like four years, and then it just becomes to slow to use for everyday things. However, it really all depends of just your machine, could last you 2 years, could last you 10. I have a machine thats going on 6 years now, and everything is original. (it is however a custom build)
strange question, but, generally the first component to fail is the PSU, however, you will want to upgrade your system to run the latest games or apps, as a general rule PC specifications available for say 1000 pounds in 18 months time the same spec PC will be about 500 pounds, & a PC that is approximately double the spec will be 1000 pounds[ot]sorry, no pound sign, booted a Kubuntu LiveCD (Edgy), default keyboard layout is US[/ot] Edit emachines did use PSUs that would only power the original parts & maybe a few minor upgrades, a mayor upgrade would certainly require a new PSU, however, i don't know if their PSUs are any good now
eMachines life span are shorter than the rest, eMachines are made by Gateway and are made cheaper.. They have allot of problems with there PSU's and there front push button switches. They also use a lower grade Motherboard, Which has a reason to go out at any time.. I have had worked on almost all of them, And would say that eMachine would not be my first choice..
My emachines is 7-8 years old (633dvd, celly 633! ). Better than my ECS and two asus systems! They lasted about 3-4 years. My dell pc is 10-11 years old and still going strong. I agree about the emachines psu though. Mine popped after a couple of years.
A well built computer with good components can last for more than 15 years, but obviously in time will become less useful. I agree 100% with Ghostman that as you have an eMachines, it simply won't last as long! I bought an eMachines in 2004 and it packed up earlier this year - the motherboard died! I still have the eMachines case but practically all of the original components have been replaced!
