hi all, i am new to the forum and have a problem with my microphone on my head phones. i can hear sound thru my head phone but i cannot talk on my microphone, what is or might be the prob. my MB is a Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3 for AMD Socket AM2 and has the sound card built in. The sound card is a Realtek High Definition Audio. i cannot figure it out. can anyone help me find a solution to this prob, i'll appreciate it and thank you.
First of all, just to be sure, stick the microphone in the rear Microphone input. Its the PINK slot. Click START > CONTROL PANEL > SOUND, SPEECH AND AUDIO DEVICES, SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES. A window will pop up. Click the ADVANCED BUTTON in the middle-right of the window. NOW, a MASTER VOLUME window will pop up. Select options, then properties. The top mixer device should be set to "Realtek........OUTPUT." Then on the bottom you will see a list of options. Select the following: REAR REAR PINK IN. then click ok. Now in your volume settings unselect mute from rear pink in, crank up the volume to it, and it should work. If this doesnt, i think your mic is broken.
thanx scorps65 that solved the problem but the mic now reverbs alot...is there any thing to do to solve this...also i can't hear myself talking with the mic...trying to fix ths prob..any thanx for the help...i apreciate it.
Hm strange. Ok, so we know that the REAR and REAR PINK IN should be left alone. SECOND, go to the same MASTER VOLUME window that i explained below. Once there, select Options > Properties. Now, for the mixer device on top, this time select "Realtek........INPUT." For the options below select ALL but the STEREO MIX (its not necessary lol unless you want it). Press ok. Now, CRANK up the RECORDING volume and the MIC as well (if the MIC volume is grayed out and disabled don't worry.) Double check and make sure your REAR and REAR PINK are cranked up and unmuted. Finally... start recording and see if the problem persists. IF the problem does persist... it could be other software configuration. To my surprise... this has happened to many people with a GIGABYTE mobo!! lol look MIC Problem with Realtek HD Audio Input - TechSpot OpenBoards Realtek High definition Audio Problem - Audio - PC Hardware You can go ahead and read through them if you want, but there wasn't any luck for me. My suggestions arent easy to say but: either buy a usb mic, or try installing the drivers again. Hope i helped you Mate!
