When i turn my laptop on,it gets to the desktop, no problem. All the bits are on the and i'm ready to go. Right.....so far so good. Now....for some reason, a blank page gets displayed by the internet explorer and i have to close it. Does anybody know what or why or how.

Also my update icon at the bottom shows that an update is available. This update is for a security update for microsoft XML Core services 4.0 service pack 2(kb936181).
I've installed this countless times but it keeps coming up.
Is this something to do with xp? My laptop is Vista but i recently transfered my files and settings from my xp desktop to this using the easy transfer cable.

have you recent installed some software? some times applications load IE browser during startup
to give instructions or to show a thank you message, these message tend to only appear once.

check start -> programs -> startup to see if there's anything that launches the same page, if so delete it.

as for the update problem, that's a strange, maybe the easy transfer cable has messed things up.

Thanks for replying Sniper. I checked the startup and the only thing in there is Kodak easyshare software. I've deleted it because its somewhere else anyway. I'll see if that does the trick. Cheers.

As for the update. Its stopped coming up now.V.strange.

    Machines eh????
