Hi i am playing Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars but it is running a bit slow and i think it is because of my graphics card. I am using: ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 Xpress Series 75Hz 32 bit My processor is 3.46GHz Intel Celeron D, 1x 1Gb DDR2 533 1x 512Mb DDR2 533 Can anybody recommend a good graphics cards that will work well with my system for about £100 or less.
SAPPHIRE X1550PCIE512 RADEON X1550 512MB PCI-E * ATI Radeon X1550 Chipset * 512MB DDR2 Memory * PCI-E x16 Interface * DVI-I, VGA, S-Video Out * Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Support * OpenGL 2.0 Support * Windows Vista Ready Will this card run with my PC, even if i only have PCI?
That is a PCI-Ex card, and you said you have only got PCI slots. Pretty much what you need to do is upgrade your motherboard to one that will accept your proc and also has a pci-ex slot.
i think you will find it hard to get a pci card now as no one wants them. your best bets would be to go for a cheap motherbord that supports pci-e like gazaway said anything like dabs.com - Gigabyte S775 Intel 945P ATX GLAN Audio (GA 945P S3) then buy a cheap graphics card like dabs.com - Sapphire Technology Radeon X1650Pro 512MB DDR2 PCIE Dual DVI (11090-03-20) im not sure of your budget but this will support both your proccessor and ram i belive.
I dont really know alot about motherboards/graphics cards, ect but i believe you get what you pay for. Will a cheap motherboard/graphics card be capable to deal with the requirements of todays games?
I have just been looking for a motherboard and graphics card and these are what i have found: SAPPHIRE 2400XT256 RADEON HD2400XT 256MB PCI-E GRAPHICS CARD * ATI Radeon HD2400XT Chipset * 256MB GDDR3 Memory * PCI-E x16 Interface * Dual DVI / HDTV Outputs * Microsoft DirectX 10.0 Support * OpenGL 2.0 Support * Windows Vista Ready ECS - 945G-M3 3.0 LGA775 MATX MOTHERBOARD * Socket LGA775 * Pentium 4/D, Core2Duo/Extreme, Celeron D * Intel 945G / ICH7 Chipset * Dual Channel DDR2 Memory * MATX Form Factor * PCIEx16(1), PCIEx1(1), PCI(2) * Onboard Graphics, Audio and LAN * Support for 2 PATA Devices * Support for 4 SATA II Devices * 4x External USB 2.0 Ports Will these work well with my processor etc....
Any Motherboard with a LGA775 will work with your Processor and and any pci-e cards should work with a pci-e motherboard. the only thing you have to watch for is make sure it takes the same ram. or its cheap and you can buy new stuff.
Oh no.. you got the 8400 GS?.. O well, I guess you will live and learn lol. That card is bunk, but if it works for you that's great.
I think you might be right, i haven't really seen an improvement with this card i might be able to take it back and get a better one.
