    Hello everyone at hardware forums.
It's nice to see that the forums are once again back up.

I have a recent problem with my CPU and Motherboard, and a couple of tech questions at that. First off the CPU is an intel quad core q6600 2.4ghz and the CPU fan is stock, however upon powering up the computer, and running vista the CPU fan will for every couple seconds speed up and slow down and you can hear it from the case, should i be worried that its doing that? and it is kind of anoying, another thing is that my motherboard has a standard ATX power port in it from the PSU I put it in, but there is a 4 pin connector left open for another power adapter from my PSU should I be placing anything in this? Or just leave that part open?
    Motherboard: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
    sorry for the noobeyness' :O

Normally those stock coolers are fairly quiet, but I'm not sure how they are with quad-cores off hand. With the system off, make sure that all 4 pins on the cooler are fully pressed down. If they're not, you'll hear a 'click' when they're firmly in position.

As far as the power supply is concerned, which place are you talking about the 4-pin? The main 24-pin ATX connector or the sole 4-pin connector?
What power supply brand and model are you using?
What's the other specs of this system?

Yea, sorry hun here is the list of the computer specs.
    Motherboard: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
Processor: Intel Quad Core 2.4ghz CPU
    RAM: 1GB PC2 5300x2 (2 GB Configuration)
Video Card: Sapphire 2600 HD Pro PCI-Express
Power Supply: ORIUS DR-8460BTX 450 ATX Power Supply

And sorry, about the question in regards to the ATX connector on the motherboard were the PSU goes in to power the board and its components, that one I believe it's the 24 pin, however, there is a separate connector on the same cable but you can either leave it without or with it, not sure If I should put it in not, Also did a BIOS update and looks like the CPU Fan is working fine now, but now in CPU ID software it reports a 1.6ghz instead of 2.4ghz
