Hello again people of HWF :D

Right, my pc has been acting weird for about 5 months (for no particular reason) it would pop up stop errors about 3 - 5 times a week, i wouldnt mind but usually im busy with something and i have to reset and i'd lose everything i was working on

sometimes the errors would show different files in the blue screen, other times it would say:

I posted a post on HWF about a month ago but they said to check the system logs but it didnt log anything suspicious :(

    Any help would be appreciated

what was the last time you reinstalled windows from scratch? Did you try to search for the error codes?

last time i reinstalled windows was maybe 2 months ago, but it was still stop-erroring before it :(

i searched a code and it mentioned the ram, but i ran memtest (or something) overnight and it didnt come up with any errors.

my ram is set to 4-4-4-12, it says this on the corsor (canny spell) sticks, but by default its set to 5-5-5-(32) - (or something similar) could this be a problem if i change the default to the manufactures specs

Are you giving your ram the correct voltage? Mine needed .3v more than the motherboard was giving it and nearly all my problems stopped when i realised this and rectified it.

Well not necessarily, it certainly wasnt in my case. Set your bios to whatever your memory manufacturer states your ram should be run at.

It seems like the higher spec ram (with the faster timings & heat spreaders etc need a bit more than the standard juice.

apparently according to my manufacturer's website the ram is 1.9v

    Test Specs
    • Each module pair is tested together in an Intel-based motherboard at 675MHz
    • Tested and packaged in pairs
    • Packaged together immediately following system test
Tested at JEDEC-standard latency settings (4-4-4-12) at 1.9V
    • SPD programmed at JEDEC standard 5-5-5-15 values

    ^^ hmm, "JEDEC Standard 5-5-5-15" ?? :s i've changed the voltage to 1.92v and timings to 5-5-5-12

    Have things improved any?

stop errors occur every so oftern, i was slightly overestimating 3 - 5 times a week as i was in a mood, its more like once a week or 3 times a month, that would be more accurate.

ill let you know if it does it again
    thanks for help!
