i've a dead pc and i'm told by two different repairers that i need a new motherboard (and i think 1 of them said it was a micro atx board). this was some time ago. i searched on ebay for a micro atx board and found a lot of variants. how can i tell which board type(s) would be suitable? cheers.
Get your tape measure out and physically measure what will fit comfortably in your case or get your mobo book and check you present mobos measurements/layout or check any booklets / info you have for your case to see what it will accomodate.
I agree with Tech Just one question what socket do you require? If it's an LGA775 then i recommend this baby ------> Abit Fatal1ty Micro ATX have used it before and it's a quality mobo that's average in price.
HAHA I didn't know that Abit put a Fatal1ty board in micro atx form. I guess the day of it being only a high performance brand is gone..
Yeah i know what you mean but seriously it is a good mobo you should look at the reviews on that linked website i gave above it is highly recommended.
I Removed The Board Tonight After Trying In Vein To Get Some Reading On The Monitor. It Says "socket 462" And On The Processor "athlon". Is That Enough Information To Go On?
Your board is as old as mine!!! Nobody makes 462 boards anymore but they were an AMD only socket which would accomodate 32-bit only Athlon processors. If you want another 462 board I'm sure you'll be able to get one on Ebay but the way I see it you've got a great opportunity to upgrade your system to a more respectable 64-bit level....truth is I envy you
I managed to find this for you on ebay: Asrock K7S41GX AMD Socket A 462 AGP/VGA/LAN Motherboard It is a brand new mobo but i don't know much about these old mobo so hopefully some one on here will tell you if it's any good but being that it's an Asrock i would say you good to go for it. Hope that helps. Oh and btw there are more on ebay but second hand ones for like £10, just type socket 462 and a bunch of them will appear. The one above costs like £37 but it's brand new.
this situation happened to me, and I got my Asrock 4CoreDual-Sata2, which is as low as $50 US in some places. It takes DDR AND DDR2 when you're ready to upgrade, and it has agp 8x and pci-e slots when you're ready to upgrade that. It is socket 775, so you will have to buy a Pentium Dual-Core E2140 or up to E2180, which will cost anywhere between $40-80 US, BUT they can apparently reach 3Ghz on stock, and they are very powerful low-budget intel cpu's (I'd highly reccomend, may aswell oc seing it's so cheap) I'm unsure about if your case will fit an atx board, mabye if possible it would be useful to take a photo for us. Do you know what case you have?
thanks for your advice. i found out that this machine is a "titeck 008" and have now ordered this board: ASRock K7S41GX Socket A SIS741GX AGP UND on board LAN USB VGA. according to users who have fitted this as a replacement for the original board - "chaintech" - it is a good fit and worked with less trouble, etc. hopefully i've no real dilemas fitting it although if i do i'm sure that these forums would be a good source of advice again. cheers to all.
