Sony sells Cell plant for $835 million

    Yeah, so Toshiba is buying out the cell factory in Japan, on a side note there, i just realized that Toshiba was against itself, as it supported the cell processor, but also, HD-DVD??? never really took note of that before now. Also, i don't completely get this whole move here, the Cell seems like something you would want to hang on to, also, where is IBM on this whole deal here???

    Cell isn't just for the PS3, it's for general purpose applications as well. Hence Cell based servers. Different divisions.

    The article also says that it'll be run by a jointly by the two companies. $835 million is a hell of a lot of money even for these giants. Most football clubs, with global support and merchandise have annual revenues of at most $500million.

    Yeah, i know the cell is for a lot more than just the PS3, and also, that 835 million is a lot of money, but still, just seems like a piece of technology that you'd want to hang on to, and, it didn't say anything about IBM directly.
