The MB is a Tyan i7505,S2665 Dual Xeon server - yes it's old but I'm running @ 3.06ghz w/HT and the chips only cost me $100. Any way the case is a CoolerMaster Stacker w/6 USB's on the front movable panel, the Tyan has 4 USB's on the IO panel on the back side and only ONE USB connector for the front. I don't want all 6 hooked up - but I would like to use my Multi-reader card and one of the USB's on the front panel. I would like to be able to move data from a thumb drive to my USB pocket drive without having to swith them in/out. I made this little adapter, but have ot tried it out yet till I hear back. Just used CADSoft Eagle and toner transfer to make the board. (see img's) tia
I don't think you can replicate USB ports like that... i think what you need is a powered usb hub (not bus powered, you could solder to the connectors on the front and power it from the PSU)
Hmm, I'm not sure of how well that will work on a component level. In theory I don't see why it wouldn't, it's just a HUB made with header interfaces instead of the USB ports, but I'm not sure. Definately crafty and looks fun, but I would have personally went ahead and bought a USB HUB or PCI/PCI-e USB card lol. I've seen some that come with extra headers I believe. So I take it one of those three is in input and the other two are the outputs? And you just did straight one-to-one wiring? Definately something I'd be interested to find out if it worked.
