I read a lot about Intel's Turbo Memory card (Intel® Turbo Memory) so as soon I got my Lenovo X61 Tablet PC I ordered Turbo Memory PCI Express x1 card and installed it on the motherboard. When I turned on the computer I got two vertical stripes on the screen. The computer seems to be working and loading the operating system but the only thing that shows on the screen is the two stripes. Please advise! Thanks
Does the problem dissapear after removing the memory expansion, what is the rating of the current memory in the system? Does it have 'on board' graphics? i.e. does the CPU do the graphics utilising part of the system memory? If so can you get into the BIOS at all? - this may allow you to tweak the graphics memory settings.
The problem still occurs after removing the memory expansion. It is more like a controler rather than memory chip. I don't know what the rating of the current memory is. I am pretty sure the graphic card is on board. I can't get to the BIOS. The only thing I see is the stripes which blink from time to time which is I suppose when the content on the screen changes.
Can you start the laptop with just the new memory and remove the old memory? (It isn't always possible to remove the original memory, at least without taking the laptop apart)
The computer cannot be started with the Turbo Memory because it is not an actual memory module and it is not recognized with the system memory. Vista recognizes the controler when it starts loading and using it as cache device to boost load time and performance for most frequent accessed data. But that is the only function that it does. It won't work with Windows XP.
Ah apologies, i assumed the upgrade was a normal DDR Dimm. You say vista recognises it? how - i though you couldn't even see the post/bios. I'm going out on a job now so won't be able to reply for a few hours
I was just trying to explain how Turbo Memory works. As soon as I start the computer I see the stripes and that's about it. The hard drive is working so I assume it's loading the operating system but the screen doesn't change. All I am trying to figure out is what might cause the mulfunctioning of the video card, or maybe something is wrong with the connector to the display. Thanks for the follow ups and have a good day!
