    Hi,
My computer currently has 1GB of RAM it is DDR2 33mhz i think. i looked up the mainboard stats and it says it can support up yo 4GB 533mhz DDR2 RAM. i was wondering if i could put 800mhz DDR2 RAM into the motherboard. Either with the existing RAM or replace the lot. I know i wont get the full power of the RAM but i just need more speed for my PC because it lags when i multitask.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers Daniel

    Wrong!

You can use faster memory than what the specs call for.

Memory is like a tire in terms of ratings. They tell you the maximum speed the RAM is supported to run at. Just as a tire rated for 150MPH will function fine at 40MPH, a stick of RAM rated for PC6400 operation will work fine at PC3200 speeds and anywhere in between.

The only thing is that you won't be making as good of use as other chips. However, going with slower RAM may save little to nothing.
