Hello ok my situation is that my old HDD critically failed on me, so i bought a new one! Woop 400gb hitachi (summit) erm the issues arises when i try to install Windows from my Medion Application CD. I have bios to boot from CD which enables me to 4 choices. 1)start recovery 2)Hard disk check(Seagate utility to check harddrive for errors and such) 3)MS-Dos prompt 4)Reboot OK when i use start recovery i select English>terms and agreements page>Error!!! The files needed to do this step are not here (Along those lines ina red box that once "any key" is hit the system reboots. I have formatted the new drive with Ms-dos promt A:>Fdisk and used fdisk /mbr (under advice but not sure what this does). Still getting the Fatal error.... Any help is most appreciated. Jacobite
Welcome to HWF I'm familiar with this problem (had a Medion PC in the past). The recovery files are stored on the original hard disk and are not present anymore when replacing the hard drive. Your best option is to get an installation disc of Windows XP OEM and use the product key that is stuck on the back of the PC.
