    hi,

A while ago i decided to upgarde my p.c after i did so it would restart even when i'm doing simple things, like itunes, online games, nothing 2 demanding. So to try and resolve this i upgraded it again all new parts, i got a asus motherboard, 1gb of kingston ram, new rom and dvd drives, radeon 9200 graphics, a western digital hdd, the only thing i didnt change was the processor which is a amd athlon 3000+, do you think this could be the problem, and is there anything i can change in the bios etc or will i simply have to buy a new one?

    cheers

firstly i'd focus on the PSU

PSU quality is very important, if it's a crappy generic PSU that came with the case, it needs replacing anyway, even though wattage doesn't mean much unless you have a decent brand PSU, i've heard that some crappy 500W PSUs can power less stuff than some decent brand 350W PSU

what brand and wattage is your PSU ?

well saying it's a 500W PSU doesn't help much, but, because you bought it separate is encoraging

where did you buy it ?

if bought online, do you don't happen to have a link / URL to it do ?

a very good guide to PSUs, written by the PSU god, Big B is here, there are some recommended PSUs brands & some to steer clear of, personally i have an Antec TP2 Trio 550W & my CPU also runs @ 3Ghz although mine it an Intel P4 single core, but generally, AMD do use more power than Intel

are there any names or distinguishing marks on the PSU ?

    Hi rammy,
I would stert from basics, Reset bios via jumper on mobo, Check that time and date are correct in bios, Reboot and see if system starts o.k.
Generally if system time is incorect in bios windows can get confused and keep resterting. Let me know so we can take further steps to resolve your issue :)

After looking at your problem again i am sure it"s your bios time out of sinc. There should be no problems with your general setup as i can see :)

Most Random restarting is cause by a VIRUS, I had one awhile ago and this is what mine did. It went into a loop, and just started up and shut down..
Also If your Bios is mess up, remove the battery for 10 minutes, that will put the bios to Default..
