I cloned my old hard disk to new hard disk using Acronis program. All my partitions were copied. I booted using my old hard disk and I can see all the partitions present in new hard disk. But when I removed my old hard drisk and tried to boot using new hard disk, the following boot failure occurs...
    GRUB Loading Stage1.5.
    GRUB loading, please wait...
    Error 17
    -

7 Operations of cloning took place and 7th operation was copying of MBR from my old hard disk to new one. But still I wonder why MBR was not copied :(

PS: And one more thing just FYI is... Winxp was installed first in my old hard drive and Linux Ubuntu was installed after that and for mbr, grub was used.

Please help me what could be done to correct this? Thanks.

Did you set the linux partition (where /boot resides) of the new harddisk to Active (with a partition program, like Acronis)?

No I havent set it.. I dont know if its possible to set like that using Acronis, but let me try.
And actually I dont need linux partition any more since I am not using linux. So maybe replace the grub boot with windows mbr? I mean delete the grub totally and install a fresh mbr for windows OS alone. Is it possible?

    You could try the following:
    1. Insert the Windows installation disc, and boot from it.
    2. After the installation is loaded, you have the following options: press Enter to launch the installation, or press R to repair. In this case, choose 'R'.
    3. The recovery console is now launched. Follow all steps until you are logged on into the console.
    4. Enter the command fixmbr. That should restore the Windows boot loader.
