My CPU keeps overheating, even though the fan spins. I think that the problem is that the Motherboard isn't detecting the fan, and it's not adjusting to the CPU or, since that grey thing on the left has snapped, it's lost connection with something down there. I have no idea how to remove it either. Can anybody help me with this problem?
Check your hold down clamps .. It sounds like one of them came loose..Make sure your heat sink is on tight to the processor..
That's not the problem, one of the clamps has snapped, is there any way to fix it without getting a replacement?
Well, you might be able to flip it back with a flat-head screwdriver or super glue the rest of the broken lever on (assuming you can find it), but your better off getting a new unit. Check your local shops as they may have some stock Intel coolers for socket 478 for cheap. I know one shop around my area sells them for under $10.
