Oops!! I've gone and encrypted my college work (for some insane reason) and now I cannot access them.

They're on my USB External HDD and after a format of my operating systerm I cant access them anymore as it says i need permission.

According to the file properties they belong to "Ian@Ian-PC" (Ian being username, Ian-PC meaning my network name I presume). My windows username and network name is unchanged.

is there any ways to get my files back?

    THanks

Have you tried clicking on Continue, and using the Administrator name and password?

When I click Continue the only window that appears next is an error message saying I need permission, (Retry, Ignore, Cancel, etc) theres nothing there to input anything

Try logging in as an Admin (the actual account). Other than that, I'm not sure.

I have formatted my pc since, but my user nickname is the same tho, and I am logged in as an admin.

I meant the built-in Admin account, the one where you hit F8 when booting up. I don't have Vista, so let me know if that was XP only.
