I'm doing a few other upgrades to my computer been a year and a half. I have an ATI x1600. Was wondering what people think is a good upgrade for around $50-$60 Here is my new motherboard: BIOSTAR A740G M2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 740G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail Now it says it has 2100 graphics onboard. I've never had good experience with onboard Video so I don't really think it's gonna be that spectacular (like able to run games that haven't been released yet) I also don't have $150 to spend getting an 8800 series card. I would love to, but I just don't have that much. I wouldn't mind staying with ATI because they're usually pretty cheap, but I have had driver/card issues with some games in the past. So I was wondering if anyone had any good advice for a graphics card that would be worth the $50 and could last until I have the money to blow on an 8800.' Also I only have 1 monitor so "dual DVI" or any crazy outputs aren't an issue. I have a PS3 so I wouldn't need it for any FPS, but maybe when Warhammer online or spore or some other online games come out I would want to be able to run those without having to spend money again on a video card. thx
Hi. If you are a casual gamer and want Nvidia, I would suggest maybe an 8600. They are fairly good with light gaming and will cost you under 100 at newegg. If you want a little more punch, you can usually find a 9600 which is newer for around $130 on the "Daily Deals" page. I'm not sure about ATI since I've never used them, but those two Nvidias are good low to mid-budget cards.
Yeah, a 3850 or a 9600 GSO or 9600 GT would be your best bets prolly. As far as the new Warhammer goes, it is pretty tough on hardware and won't run too well on your system when it comes out.
