Hi all,Can anybody help me with a p4? I have an old Asus P4PE mobo that i thought i would give a new lease of life. It has an Intel P4 2.8GHz (non H-T) cpu in it at the moment(SL6K6)(fsb533MHz L2 cache 512KB) . I managed to get a 2.8GHz H-T cpu(SL77N)(fsb 533MHz L2 cache 512KB). When i put in the H-T cpu it did not work.It was showing in BIOS that the cpu was only 1600.(I assume that ment 1.6GHz). I ran the Intel Chipset Identification Utility, this showed that it was running at 1600 and the fsb was 535Mhz,saying that the chip was overclocked. How can i get the mobo to take this new chip and run at the proper speed without it showing that it is overclocked? Anybody please help me as it's doing my sweed:swear::dead:
Well, that might require a BIOS update to get rid of the false positive on the OC part. Outside of that, it's fine, but it may be a newer core than the non HT one and not being properly recognized at it's stock speed.
Hi Big B,It has got the very latest BIOS update,so that means i'll have to look for an older cpu may be the 3.06GHz's,that thr user guide said the mobo can run up to.I think there is 6 types of cpu.I used the Intel Processor Spec Finder (Processor Spec Finder). Which also tells me that the 2.8GHz cpu is a Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processors - M 2.80 GHz.So that might be the reason for it not working. Cheers Martin.
