I'm am in the middle of trying to fix a friends computer. I'm on a Dell Dimension 3000, and am having problems with the CD drive. It's a Sony CD-RW crx216e drive. The drive reads, plays, and rips audio cd's, but will not recognize a blank CD, making me unable to burn any cd's. Can anyone help me out?
I've used Windows Media Player, and Musicmatch Jukebox, and Alcohol 120%. I've used burnt cd's before, and from what i can remember, they worked. I would try one right now, but i can't seem to find any at the moment.
Have you tried a slower burn/write speed? I've heard of people who've had similar problems to this and that fixed it for them.
Go to Dell and update the CD drivers,Plus try a good CD/DVD burning software.. Ashampoo burning studio 6 FREE version..Ashampoo Burning Studio Free download and review - CD/DVD/Blu-Ray burning suite from SnapFiles
I put the burning speed to low, and Media Player still doesn't detect that there's a blank cd in the drive. It says " Please insert a blank disc in CD Drive (D: ). Once Windows Media Player detects the new disc, It will automatically start burning." It also says the drivers are up to date. I tried the Ashampoo, and it's also saying that there is no disc in the drive.
